I think I've told you that I have a healthy appetite for total trash books. Its so bad that many times I just grab books off the library shelf without even reading the title. I judge a trash book by the cover. This week, I tried something a bit more healthy.
First up is Ellie Krieger's new cookbook "Comfort Food Fix". I'm not normally a cookbook author super fan. (If there is such a thing). Ellie is different. Her food is healthy (not diet food) and so so very good. Her books are ones that you can cook every recipe and like them all. The two books I own are ones that I cook out of a couple times a week. Nothing is too weird. Ingredients are easy to find and are probably already in your pantry. I was pretty excited to find "Comfort Food Fix" at the library. After cooking broccoli cheddar soup and breakfast cookies, I now need to buy my own copy (or ask Santa) before I get food splatter on the library book. My library is unforgiving with damage to books.
The second book that actually made me giggle aloud is Tina Fey's "Bossypants" Again this was a good library find. The book is a funny biography. I don't know how much is true, and how much is exaggerated, but who cares? It was fun. Tina's feminism is forceful, humorous and logical. What's better than a book reminding us to ignore people who may bother you but aren't in your way. Or reminding us that 'alot' is "inexcusable." Best of all, this book was one that I can pick up and put down without feeling like I need to rush to see what happens next.
